Joyce Leung
BIOGRAPHY
Joyce is a first generation Canadian, born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prior to getting into the pharmacy program, she obtained an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma from Miles Macdonell Collegiate and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba. Joyce has always been actively involved in several student groups and giving back to her community with over 1000 volunteer hours with the Health Sciences Centre.
She pursued research opportunities through two Undergraduate Research Awards with professors from the College of Pharmacy prior to her acceptance to the program. Joyce fortified her pharmacy exposure by starting as a pharmacy clerk with Loblaw in 2019. This position allowed her to advance both her role as a student and further grow her passion towards community pharmacy.
She continued her extracurricular endeavors by tutoring young students in West Broadway, volunteering for the flu clinic on campus, and serving as Treasurer for the University of Manitoba’s Pharmacy Students’ Association (UMPhSA) and the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns (CAPSI) local council. Joyce is thankful for her academic journey, having the opportunity to form ever-lasting relationships with her peers and learn from her various preceptors.
In her free time, Joyce enjoys playing badminton, board games, and spending time with her friends and family (especially her two nieces Jilly and Jordy).
Joyce will be graduating this spring with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Manitoba. As she takes this next step towards the start of her career, she is looking forward to a life-long journey of learning and helping to make a difference in her patient’s well-being.
